Sophia Bush has filed for divorce from husband Grant Hughes after just one year of marriage, Page Six can confirm.
“Sophia and Grant were friends for 10 years and bonded during COVID through their love of community service,” a source close to the couple told People Friday, the same day the actress submitted the filing. “They continue to run their nonprofit together and remain good friends.”
News of the split comes out of the blue as the pair posted loved-up tributes for their one-year wedding anniversary in June.
“Today marks 365 days of calling you ‘husband,'” the “Chicago P.D.” alum captioned a photo of the pair on their wedding day.
“Best decision of my life. It still feels just like this. Ecstatic. Running toward the future, grinning and laughing, together. I love you, my favorite. Happy Anniversary 🤍.”
At the time, Hughes posted an equally sweet message, calling their first year of marriage “full, beautiful, dynamic, exciting, [and] growth-filled.”
“There are seven billion people on this planet. You are my favourite,” he wrote.

Not only that, but Bush’s BFF Hilarie Burton also posted a picture with the seemingly happy couple on July 8 while celebrating her “One Tree Hill” co-star’s birthday.
The decision to end their union also came weeks after Bush, 41, returned home from London where she had to drop out of “2:22 A Ghost Story” due to medical issues.
In a lengthy Instagram post, the actress explained that she caught a virus in June that she hadn’t been able to fully recover from.
After going to several different doctors, she was advised by her medical team to stop performing in order to “get this under control.”
While Bush thanked the fans and her “incredible” castmates, there was no mention of Hughes.
The former couple were friends for over a decade before they decided to take their relationship to the next level during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
The pair, who met during a New Year’s trip to Nicaragua, started connecting online over books, articles and their mutual activism — which eventually led to long FaceTime calls before actually meeting in person.
They fall hard and fast and, just over a year later, the pair announced their engagement on Instagram in August 2021.
“So it turns out that being your favorite person’s favorite person is the actual best feeling on planet Earth 💫 #YES,” she captioned a photo of the pair on a boat in Lake Como, Italy.
Despite their whirlwind romance, Bush says they put a lot of thought into their decision to get married and even sought out a couples counselor to help them make the decision.
“We were like, ‘We’ve been together for four months, but we think we’re going to do this. We have a feeling and we need to know,” the “John Tucker Must Die” star shared on the “Podcrushed” podcast in April.
“We’re either going to go through this thing and decide that we’re each other’s people or we’ll know we’re not and we’ll be friends.”
The two made the union officialin June 2022 during a stunning ceremony in Hughes’ home state of Oklahoma. While they do not have any children together, they do share a rescue dog named Maggie.
Bush was previously married to “OTH” co-star Chad Michael Murray from April 2005 to December 2006, but their relationship ended on the heels of rumors that he cheated with Paris Hilton.
She admitted in June 2018 that she was “talked into” marrying Murray and, a few years later, disclosed that she was “done” talking about their tumultuous relationship.
