Pamela Anderson admits in her new memoir that she knew very little about Tommy Lee when they eloped in Mexico in 1995.
“On the flight home, I asked him what our last name was, and he said, ‘Lee,'” the actress recalls in “Love, Pamela,” which hit bookstores Tuesday. “I said, ‘Oh, I thought it was Tommy Lee … something. Jones?'”
Anderson writes that she then asked Lee “where he lived,” to which he responded, “Malibu Road.”
Although the couple had only known each other for a few days when they said “I do,” the former Playboy model remembers being “in heaven” and “never letting” go of the Mötley Crüe drummer.
Anderson’s mother, on the other hand, was less than thrilled when she heard the news.
“She was furious. ‘Who’s Tommy?'” the “Baywatch” star writes. “She couldn’t believe I had gotten married, cried that she had always dreamed of being at her only daughter’s wedding.”
Anderson defends herself, though, admitting that while her decision to run away with Lee “was definitely out of character,” she was “genuinely happy” and “lost in a sea of love.”
The pair went on to welcome two sons, Brandon in 1996 and Dylan in 1997, before divorcing in 1998.
In her book, Anderson, 55, blames the demise of her marriage to Lee, 60, on two incidents: a sex tape being stolen from their house in 1995 and released without their consent, and the rock star’s arrest for spousal abuse, which put him in jail for six months in 1998.
“Neither of us could forgive the other, deep down. We just weren’t equipped to get through it all,” she shares. “I loved to see him with his boys, but the four of us together forever was only a dream.”
