How to lose a dress in 10 minutes.
Kate Hudson almost suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction in front of Prince at the 2005 Golden Globes.
“I spent the Golden Globes not being able to sit,” the 41-year-old “Music” star told People, recalling a “malfunction” with her brown strapless Versace dress that year.
After standing up in the car on her way to the red carpet, she didn’t realize that “the whole dress would have split” if she “sat too much.”
To avoid ripping the form-fitting gown at the seams, the “Almost Famous” actress spent the ceremony sitting “sideways,” much to the amusement of the late music icon.
“He just thought it was so funny,” Hudson remembered. “And God rest his soul, but I was sideways the whole time.”
With the 2021 Golden Globes red carpet going virtual amid the COVID-19 pandemic, it will likely be much easier to avoid a public wardrobe malfunction during the Feb. 28 awards show.
Stylist Sophie Lopez, who’s dressing Hudson for this year’s Globes, explained during a Zoom roundtable this week that the online format makes for a “different way of working.”
“We are able to cheat in ways we couldn’t if it was an in-person event,” she said. “We can safety-pin things, we don’t have to worry about tripping over long hemlines.”
